What we make

Five things, mostly. Every piece is solid hardwood — white oak, black walnut, cherry, ash and hard maple — with mortise-and-tenon or dovetailed joinery. No veneered particleboard, no face frames stapled on. Prices below are what commissions in that category have actually cost over the last two years, before delivery.

  • Dining tables

60–120 in long, 34–44 in wide, 29–30 in high. Trestle, pedestal or four-leg, with breadboard ends if the top is over 40 in wide. $4,200–$11,500.

  • Casework

Sideboards, dressers, credenzas and cabinets. Typically 48–84 in long and 18–22 in deep, with hand-cut dovetailed drawers on wooden runners. $3,800–$14,000.

  • Built-in shelving

Scribed to the wall and the floor you actually have. Priced by the running foot: $650–$1,100 per foot depending on species, depth and whether there are doors.

  • Desks

From a 48 in writing table to a 90 in partners' desk with file drawers and cable routing. $3,400–$9,800.

  • Beds

Twin through California king, with bolted-and-keyed joints so the frame knocks down for stairs and moves. Headboard heights 38–54 in. $3,900–$8,600.

  • What we don't make

Upholstery, outdoor furniture, kitchen cabinetry for a whole kitchen, or anything in plywood with a thin solid edge. We'll tell you early if your project is better off with someone else.

How a commission works

Four steps, start to delivery. Current lead time from signed drawing to delivery is 14 to 18 weeks. We take on roughly 20 commissions a year and the book for autumn 2026 is open.

  1. 1. Conversation

Email or phone, then a visit to your room or a visit to the shop. We measure, look at the light, and talk about how the piece gets used. No charge, usually an hour.

  2. 2. Drawing and quote

A dimensioned drawing, a species recommendation and a fixed price. The design fee is $450 and comes off the build if you go ahead. Two rounds of revisions are included.

  3. 3. Timber selection

We pull boards from the rack and lay out the top in front of you, or send photographs if you're not local. A 50% deposit books your slot in the schedule.

  4. 4. Build and delivery

You get progress photographs at milling, dry-fit and finish. We deliver and place the piece ourselves within 120 miles of Kingston; further afield we crate and ship.

Who we work with

Homeowners
You know the room and roughly what you want. We handle the drawing, the species choice and the engineering. One point of contact, fixed price, photographs as it goes. About two thirds of our work.
Interior designers
You send elevations or a reference image; we return a dimensioned shop drawing and a trade price within ten business days. We hold to your install date or tell you early that we can't. Trade terms on request.
Architects
Built-ins, millwork and single statement pieces coordinated with the general contractor. We attend site meetings within 120 miles, survey after the drywall is up, and supply shop drawings for your file.
Where we deliver
Hudson Valley, the Catskills, the Berkshires and all five boroughs of New York City by our own truck. Crated freight elsewhere in the lower 48, quoted at cost.

We gave them a wall with a radiator in the wrong place and a ceiling that drops an inch and a half across fourteen feet. The shelving looks like the building was built around it. They also told us on week two that the species we'd asked for was a bad idea, which saved us a lot of money.
